Job Description
As a seasoned and Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be making decisions of a global and strategic nature that impact our customers, clients, and businesses around the globe. Your expertise in analyzing complex data systems, anticipating problems, and finding ways to mitigate risk, will be key in providing thought leadership on a high performing team to successfully design and navigate the JP Morgan Chase Optical Network program roadmap. By incorporating your knowledge of business drivers, you will affect change and lead development of innovative improvements and world-class practices. Your team will be responsible for driving results and implementing multiple complex programs that span the breadth of the business, and they'll look to you to provide the technical leadership to move them forward. In this role you will drive the design, construction, and support of one of the largest enterprise optical networks in the world. Your focus on automation to support the provisioning and life cycle management of the optical network will position JP Morgan as a technology leader in the optical networking space.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Expert in the following key areas: Network Architecture, Design (compliance, security), Network Engineering (planning, provisioning), Optical Network Hardware (configuration, performance testing, monitoring, operations), Network Management
  • Advanced understanding of business technology drivers and their impact on architecture design, performance and monitoring, best practices and JPMC policies
  • Proficient in multiple infrastructure technologies: network, compute, and storage
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget
  • Support an environment that identifies opportunities to develop others through mentorship and leading by example
  • Adept at partnering closely with, and acting as a trusted advisor to, stakeholders across the firm in order to influence strategic priorities
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages (JSON, Python). Experience with scripting tools, such as Ansible, for infrastructure installation and configuration.
  • Experience with IP networks, Network Function Virtualization and/or Software Defined Networking (SDN)
  • Experience with automation of life cycle management of network elements or virtualized network functions.
  • 5-10 years' experience with Optical Network Equipment and Telecommunications
  • Extensive telecommunications experience specializing in layer 1 transport and above
  • Expert level knowledge and experience with DWDM systems design and operations
  • Knowledge of Ciena Optical Platforms and Ciena MCP and BPI management tools
