About the Position: This position serves as a Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration/Network) within the Command Assessment Program (CAP) Directorate, Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Responsibilities
- As a Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration/Network), you will perform duties to include, but not limited to the following:
- Responsible for installation, integration, maintenance, modification, and configuration of IT solutions with a team of IT specialists during the execution of assessment events.
- Installs and configures network servers, Storage Area Network (SAN) and switches, operating systems and server-based applications for fielded operating system releases.
- Builds, configures, and maintains the SharePoint repository.
- Creates and maintains user accounts, network shared data resources, login scripts, workstation device definitions within the domain, and share access permissions.
- Troubleshoots, develops informed recommendations and takes corrective action on system problems such as server crashes, extended response times, environmental problems, related peripherals and unauthorized access.
- Monitors and evaluates server utilization and functionality using software and hardware monitoring tools and makes recommendations to improve system availability and performance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration/Network):
Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes a wide variety of projects in network and computer systems, and applications software in order to be able to recommend appropriate solutions to meet enterprise network requirements, analyze missions, plans, organization structure, planned or future infrastructures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the following certificate:
Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II Certification: This position has been identified as covered by Army Regulation (AR) 25-2 and DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, and requires Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II certification. This position requires a satisfactorily completion of the Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II training and be certified or re-certified within six (6) months of being assigned in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 25-2 and DoD Publication 8570.01-M, dated 19 December 2005.
NOTE: If you have the Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II certification you must submit a copy with your application.
