Job Description

We are seeking applicants for an immediate opening for an Information Technology Manager to join our corporate services team. This new position will be hybrid, with a combination of office based work, regular travel to all of our offices, and some remote work. The Information Technology Manager is a hands-on IT management position that will plan, coordinate, implement, and manage the current and future technology needs of S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. and a subsidiary, S.W.COLE Explorations, LLC. This position will be based in one of our Maine or New Hampshire offices (Bangor, Gray, or Sidney, Maine, or Londonderry or Somersworth, New Hampshire).


Job Functions:

  • Oversee and manage IT operations.
  • Serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of company operations.
  • Hands-on ability to implement technology solutions, manage vendors, trouble-shoot, and problem solve.
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with internal and external resources.
  • Provide IT leadership, strategy, and innovation to support current needs, proactively plan for future needs, and accommodate future growth.
  • Ability to communicate and work closely with senior leadership.
  • Identify and implement technology solutions, plan and budget projects, assess business implications, and monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.
  • Manage oversight of outsourced providers, including MSP relationship(s), IT services, mobile and VOIP phone services, internet, equipment vendors, etc.
  • Coordinate with outsourced provider(s) to provide, manage and support helpdesk functions for team members.
  • Assess current or future IT needs and priorities by communicating directly with end users.
  • Communicate with, train, and educate employees on IT systems, changes, and policies.
  • Specify, purchase, and maintain inventory of all IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, mobile devices, routers, servers, peripherals, etc.

    • Ability to handle complex and high-level problems and implement solutions.
    • Ability to manage and organize activities.
    • Ability to manage systems supporting and servicing multiple office locations across multiple states.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience with technology management.
    • Bachelor degree in IT Management, IT security, or another related field, or additional experience and technology certifications.
    • In-depth knowledge of IT best practices.
    • In-depth knowledge and ability to review, select, implement and use a variety of PC and cloud-based software and apps [Microsoft products (Access, Office 365, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive), AutoCAD, HRIS (i.e. BambooHR), accounting (Unanet) and Adobe].
    • Knowledge of and familiarity with SQL databases.
    • Knowledge of IT hardware, software, and systems.
    • Experience working with, selecting, managing, and overseeing outsourced providers.
    • Experience with mobile platforms (i.e. Power Apps).
    • Experience working with employees based in multiple offices and with remote workers, across multiple states.
    • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with leaders and managers to leverage technology solutions to help reach the organizations goals.
