Cedars-Sinai's Infection preventionists (IPs) professional's number one priority is the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors. We do this by reducing the risk of communicable diseases transmission and nosocomial infections throughout our health facilities. To support the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's (CSMC) mission of patient care, research, teaching and community service, our Infection Preventionists work with front-line healthcare workers and other interdisciplinary teams to educate and promote evidence-based infection control practices. Infection Preventionist's come from various backgrounds such as Registered Nurses, Epidemiologists, or Public Health Professionals.
In this role, you will contribute to the provision of high quality patient care to promote and implement infection prevention, control practices and compliance with regulatory agency requirements; evaluate occupational health exposures and assists with the determination of proper care and planning; participates in the identification, prevention and control of infections through data collection, surveillance and analysis, development of verbal and written reports, educational programs for personnel and patients as needed. Assists client departments in preparations for accreditation and licensure surveys in both the acute and ambulatory care areas as well as other regulatory standard reviews.
Educational Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BNS) in progress
- Masters of Science in Nursing or Masters of Science in Public Health is strongly preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
- Cert Infection Control Nurse strongly preferred
- California State RN License is required
Experience:
- Two (2) years' experience in infection prevention in a hospital setting.
- Five (5) years' Registered Nurse experience in acute or clinical setting.
