Medtronic’s Tempe, Arizona Microelectronic Solutions location has a current opportunity for a Senior Industrial Engineer.
This position will support the Medtronic Mission for unsurpassed quality and reliability in our medical devices. Responsible for developing, advocating, enabling and deployment of the tools and methodologies to drive operational excellence. These tools may include, but are not limited to Lean, Six Sigma, project management, and other improvement techniques. Collaborate and lead project teams to model/simulate manufacturing capacity to develop high quality, highly reliable implantable products for Medtronic.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the patients we serve and an unrelenting desire to improve our business and products. The candidate will have a solid engineering foundation, problem solving skills, scientific thinking, and able to work in a high paced team-oriented environment.

A Day in the Life
  • Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in operations, equipment layouts, and extended value stream; establishes methods for maximum utilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and manufacturing systems; develops and implements plans and programs for manufacturing layout or process changes and revisions to operating methods.
  • Collaborates with Operations and Engineering to document process and touch times and ensure accurate inputs to capacity models/simulations; identifies capacity constraints and necessary improvements based on future demand.
  • Meet operational attainment of Safety, Quality, and Service goals.
  • Daily interaction with cross-functional teams providing hands-on support and responsibility for metrics such as equipment utilization and productivity.
  • Participate on projects to develop and deploy highly capable processes, including cost effective lean tooling and equipment.
  • Drive projects to successful completion using Project Management skills. Utilize technical skills associated with Lean, Six Sigma and other appropriate improvement techniques to identify and drive continuous improvement.
  • May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.
  • Develop imaginative, thorough, and practicable technical solutions to difficult problems which are consistent with organization objectives.
  • Provide on time project updates, development plans, peer/self-assessments, and successful completion of all training requirements.
  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies, or governmental regulations.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have:
BS in Industrial Engineering and at least 4 years of experience working in a Regulated field
Lean Sigma Green Belt certification
Experience designing and implementing capacity models/simulations
Experience with Lean Manufacturing transformations
