Independent Living Skills Educator

Job Description

Preforms a wide variety of confidential services, including in-home teaching for the consumer, and his/her parents.

Job Duties:

1. Provide in-home services - follow individual Service Plan

2. Locate community resources

3. Complete all hours as assigned

4. Maintain accurate records, submit all reports as needed

5. Identify and report possible abuse/neglect

Skills and Educational Requirements:

Must have experience working with persons with Developmental Disabilities. Ability to communicate with consumers and supervisors. Have knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Current CPR/First Aid. Ability to use creativity in following the Service Plan. A minimum of one year professional work experience preferably with persons with Developmental Disabilities. Must have an understanding of appropriate versus inappropriate relationships with consumers and their families.

Work Environment:

Working in clients homes, visits to schools, social settings, grocery stores, mall, SSI, DMV, banks, etc. Must have reliable transportation, clean driving record, and current auto insurance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively, ability to organize, make simple calculations, perform a variety of task at one time, Manage a change of schedule on short notice, Ability to use creativity to teach the Individual Service Plan.

Location: San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley, Kern, East LA

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $15.00 per hour
