SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION:
Reports to the Maintenance Manager.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
The I/E Technician will interface with the appropriate maintenance and manufacturing resources to resolve, improve, and implement maintenance activities in a safe, responsible, and environmentally sound manner which is in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Manage Work Orders through SAP by reserving warehouse materials for jobs that is discovery work, charging time to work order operations, and create notifications for problems found during plant evaluations and task execution from existing work orders. Work with Engineering/SME (Subject Matter Expert) on resolution to issues on discovery work in the field, which is subject to; field walks with contractors, researching parts/tools needed for completing tasks. Navigate via SharePoint to update equipment records and research existing equipment files/data. Responsible for ensuring that all AIMS HESQ policies & practices (ISO-9001, ISO-14001, ISO-45001 & RCMS) are followed by all manufacturing personnel. This includes compliance with OSHA 1910, environmental regulations and permits, quality systems, and safe work permit practices.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major responsibilities for the I/E Technician include but are not limited to the following:
Safety: 10%
- HSEQ responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following:
- Repair and calibration documentation.
- Following safe work practices.
- Compliance to Houston Plant Leadership Expectations.
Work Execution: 40%
- Perform effective preventive and predictive monitoring and maintenance techniques to identify and define abnormal operating conditions.
- Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and install electrical and instrumentation equipment that is used in the chemical processing facility.
- Ensures housekeeping is kept high priority at all times.
- Update maintenance supervisors with job status.
Research/Document: 35%
- Read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, and I&E drawings to perform required maintenance.
- Create and submit repair reports and documentation to meet ISO standards.
- Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
- Update equipment records.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Incident Investigations.
- Assist other trades in performing assigned work as requested.
Planning: 15%
- Assist Planner with job planning by material needs and step/operation assortment.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT:
- This position is located at the Houston plant and works in a fast-paced environment
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma. Technical education/certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years I/E Technician experience in industrial type environment. Petrochemical or Refinery experience required.
- Instrumentation Experience:
- Knowledge of and experience with instrumentation installation, calibration, maintenance and trouble-shooting along with the ability to read and understand P&ID and Loop Drawings. Experience using communicator to verify settings of instruments in the field.
- Knowledge of and experience with PLC’s, ladder logic, control valves, field bus modules, Triconex and Foxboro software packages or related DCS platforms.
- Knowledge of instrumentation relating to temperature, pressure, mass flow and level. Includes DP, Coriolis, Vortex, Ultrasonic and Magnetic instrumentation.
- Electrical Experience:
- Knowledge of and experience of troubleshooting equipment with Voltages 12.47 kV, 2300V and 480V.
- Trouble-shooting skills along with the ability to read and understand P&ID, Relay Drawings, Electrical One-Lines and Loop Drawings.
- Knowledge of testing and maintenance of VFD’s, Transformers, Large Motors, UPS Systems and Breakers.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and SAP.
- Demonstrated leadership, learning and development skills.
- Initiative and self-starter.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing, engineering, and other functions including contractors.
- Strong interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to solve problems and present solutions.
- Ability to influence without formal authority.
