The Engineering Development Program (EDP) at UPS is a structured 6-month training program for highly qualified Industrial Engineers. The program involves interactive classroom training, self-paced computer based training, on-the-job training, and a structured support network. Upon completion of the program, the engineer will have the opportunity to move into an Industrial Engineering (IE) Supervisor position as detailed below.
Responsibilities and Duties
The IE Supervisor works with engineering departments to develop, implement, and deploy approved operational processes and best practices consistently throughout the company. The IE Supervisor will take a lead role in planning and execution of large project implementations and training initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Project and program management
- Process improvement
- Work measurement using Master Standard Data (MSD)
- Operations Research
- Integrated business planning
- New technology integration and implementation
- Training and development
Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following preferred majors by annual program start dates in January or July:
- Industrial Engineering
- Process Engineering
- Operations Management/Research
- Supply Chain
- Logistics
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity and dedication to getting results
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively across business units
