TMC/UH Lakewood is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. TMC/UH Behavioral Health is the KC metro area’s largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The Healing Canvas Building , located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

Provides apprentice level mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and window refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, including large absorption chillers, ice machines, walk-in freezers, pneumatic controls, air handlers, and water treatment equipment. Works from blueprints and sketches. Adjusts equipment, checks for gas leaks and faulty parts. Work is performed under close supervision and is reviewed through inspection while in progress and upon completion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High school diploma or the equivalent
• Must be member of local union.
• Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, equipment, processes and techniques of the trade required, including use of torch and welder.
• Must be able to work from written and oral instructions, read diagrams and blueprints, and maintain standard records.
• If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to carry equipment and supplies.
• Good dexterity, balance and coordination required to work from ladders and scaffolding.
• Position requires standing, lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping, bending, pulling, squatting, and walking.
• Must be able to wear half mast respirator to comply with OSHA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical technical trade school training
• HVAC/R Technical school or equivalent
