This position is in place to improve birth outcomes and decrease infant morbidity and mortality in Iredell County. This is accomplished using an equity lens alongside community partners, in a strategic and collective impact process. Another key focus area is Safe Kids Iredell Coordination, which is an extensive local network of multiagency and multidisciplinary experts and community members who have a unified mission to keep kids safe and help prevent childhood injuries and death. This position helps coordinate child fatality prevention activities related to some of the Iredell County Child Fatality Prevention Team’s needs. This position also engages in youth risk prevention activities related to but not limited to the following topics: water safety, healthy eating, active living, violence, bullying, suicide, substance use (including alcohol and tobacco), distractive driving, head injuries, sexually transmitted infections, teen pregnancy and self-leadership. This position participates in local taskforces in various capacities. This position often works with community and business partners to plan, implement and assess community improvement plans related to the job responsibilities. A responsibility of this position is writing grants related to the duties of the job to secure external resources for the financial health of the division and agency.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday / 8:00am – 5:00pm Working hours outside the normal working schedule and/or on weekends is needed occasionally too.
HIRING RANGE:
$43,681.77 - $50,606.59 (Grade 29C)

Examples of Duties

Public health, facilitation, strategic planning, and public health problem solving are important for this position. Relationship building, time management/efficiency, multitasking, and the ability to produce quality products are important. Being independent, flexible, a team player, confidential and professional to everyone are abilities that are needed as well. The position requires the ability to research and analyze data to make sound decisions. The ability to speak in a group or to various types of audiences is important as well. The ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and independently produce cumulative narrative documents are desired.

Typical Qualifications

A four-year degree in public service administration, psychology, sociology, social work or a human service programmatic field, preferably with coursework in human service planning; or graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or consultative experience in a human service program; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
