Job Description


The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR Management. This position is responsible for payroll processing, benefit administration, leave of absences, training, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administrates FMLA & LOA processes & ensures compliance with federal and state standards
  • Delivers employee onboarding orientation & presentation updates
  • Coordinates Introductory Period reviews with appropriate supervisors
  • Maintains company organization charts and employee directory
  • Process payroll for all groups & distributes appropriate paperwork to corporate (new hires, benefits, terminations, etc)
  • Promotes & manages WonderfulGiving program
  • Completes paperwork for all unemployment filings. Represents Company in all unemployment appeal hearings.
  • Completes paperwork on garnishments and processes as needed.
  • Assists with recruitment efforts of all personnel, prescreens & interview applicants
  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel files, including medical, FMLA & workers compensation files, payroll and Company information.
  • Maintains HR Tracking Logs such as introductory period, attendance, I-9 documentation, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with Company safety program and all applicable laws. Participate in Safety Committee as required.
  • Interpret company policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs and provide appropriate guidance to management regarding relevant Federal, State and Local employment laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of human resource industry trends and new employment related legislation and communicate policies, procedures and program revisions as necessary to assigned client groups.
  • Assist with the annual goal setting and performance evaluation process for assigned client groups and coach management to provide valuable, timely and consistent reviews.
  • Consult with Human Resources Director on personnel matters as required.
  • Proactively maintain a positive work environment that supports an open door policy; provide support and counsel to assigned client groups regarding all employment relation issues from coaching to corrective action and facilitate resolutions that are fair and consistent.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources Director conduct necessary employment related investigations and ensure proper interview, reporting and documentation protocols are adhered to.
  • Manage effective communication structures to ensure that assigned client groups remain informed of relevant organizational initiatives and projects.
  • Field employee inquiries as it relates to benefit programs such as life, medical and disability insurances, pension plan, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, COBRA and employee assistance. Escalate issues as necessary to Corporate Benefits department and submit all benefit related paperwork to Human Resource Administrative team for processing.
  • Participate in and/or lead the planning of Company sponsored events.
  • Participate on committees, project teams and special projects as required.
  • Present a professional image as a representative of the Company.

Qualifications
  • Must portray high levels of professionalism, appearance, motivation and positive attitude in all endeavors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide guidance and assistance to all levels of employees.
  • Excellent verbal, listening & written communication skills. (Bi-literate preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Ability to perform efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to employ creative and innovative thought processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and UKG HRIS software.


Education & Experience:

At least two years progressively responsible human resources experience in a generalist capacity, including experience in employee relations, seasonal hiring and safety within a production/manufacturing setting. B.A degree in Human Resources, Business or related field. Supplementary training and/or designations (M.A., PHR, SPHR) related to the human resource field, or equivalent education and experience, is desirable.
