Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the Human Resources function at the site, consisting of recruiting, onboarding, HR systems, training, and metrics. Apply the principles of Human Resources, including confidentiality of information, while performing analysis and reporting recommendations to HR Manager. Adhere to the SGC Human Resources policies and procedures, as well as the Principles of Conduct and Action.

Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR, or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of HR or related experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in recruiting required.
  • Experience with HR systems, such as PeopleSoft and Kronos preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy required.
  • Must be a team player and self-starter that is able to meet commitments and deadlines with limited direct supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, project management, and organizational skills required.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.

Additional Description
  • Recruiting: Assumes lead role in working with site management to fill vacant positions. This includes determining best sourcing strategy for each role and performing a recruiting kick-off meeting for each position. Responsible for candidate communications throughout the recruiting process. Schedules and conducts phone screens, on-demand interviews and in-person interviews. Gives frequent status updates to hiring manager throughout process. Creates offer letter and extends offer to candidate. Promote and maintain site Affirmative Action policy. Actively seek partnerships with state colleges and universities, and participate in career fairs.
  • Onboarding: Responsible for candidate care upon offer acceptance, including initiating and ensuring completion of background check. Prepare hiring manager and drive engagement and completion of Onboarding Checklist. Meet with new hires on day one to review Onboarding presentation.
  • HR Systems: Manage HRIS data entry for site and other sites, as necessary. Assist with hourly payroll processing on a weekly basis.
  • Training: Assist training department with various administrative duties, including scheduling of training, updating training records, and formatting training documents. Assist with training department projects, as needed, such as uploading training documents into an online training portal.
