Basic Job Functions:
Responsible for performing a broad range of HR-related duties while providing day-to-day HR support for assigned manufacturing crew(s) and/or departments. Partner closely with manufacturing supervisors and other leaders in supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations. Originate and lead Human Resources practices and objectives that support the entire Human Resources team. Lead associate relations effort and ensure all human resources functions and activities are carried out effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with First Solar’s Core Values and Behaviors. This includes coordination and implementation of policies, programs, procedures, and programs in the following functional areas: benefits, employee relations, training, onboarding, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in Human Resources required. 7+ years of experience preferred.
- Proven employee relations experience is required.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience working at First Solar as a Human Resource Generalist II preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, major in human resources or business preferred.
- PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Excellent understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of employment/labor laws
- Must have the ability to apply advanced technical knowledge & skills to issues brought forward
- Must be able to interact professionally with associates at all levels
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks, manage projects, and meet deadlines.
- Must be detail oriented and consistently accurate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office and human resources information systems
- Time management & strong organization skills; manage projects and meet deadlines
- Proven use of all Microsoft Office suite programs and HRIS systems
Essential Responsibilities:
- Implement changes to procedures, processes, resources and techniques to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the department or internal customers.
- Respond to human resources issues with minimal Manager guidance.
- Lead complex project assignments, including compiling, analyzing and making recommendations based on data.
- Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine. Resolve most questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to Manager.
- Lead in identifying opportunities for training and then conduct training where appropriate.
- Partner with associates of assigned crew(s) and/or departments to provide a one stop shop in HR support and act as a backup for opposite crew(s) and/or departments.
- Learn the business by attending operations meetings etc.
- Keep a pulse on associate morale by actively conducting management by walking around. Communicates associates concerns appropriately.
- Coach managers on associate issues and bring them to resolution.
- Lead and/or facilitate the following efforts for assigned crew(s) and/or departments:
- Annual pay planning.
- Quarterly performance reviews.
- Open enrollment for benefit plan.
- Administer the day-to-day tasks of the following processes:
- Investigations
- Performance Management
- Corrective Actions
- Leaves (STD, LTD, FMLA, Modified Work Duty and WC)
- Termination / Resignation
- Drug and alcohol program
- Changes in associates’ status (including, but not limited to promotions, demotions, etc)
- Employment and unemployment verifications
- Assisting with policy interpretation and adherence.
- Presenting one or more areas of new hire orientation
- Answering benefit inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution.
- Working with payroll to resolve pay issues and questions brought forward.
- Others duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.
- No direct reports.
Travel:
No regular travel is required outside the First Solar work site.
