Job Description

Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Location: Madison (Corporate)

Reports To: HR Director

FLSA Status: Exempt


Job Summary

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including employee relations, benefit compliance and leave, compensation philosophy, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities


Employee Relations

Develop and administer policies and procedures as they relate to employee relations, compensation, benefits, employment, training, recruitment, and legal compliance. Communicates new or changed policies to management and employees.

Address and resolve employee relations matters and provides recommended solutions. Maintains reasonable availability to provide assistance to employees. Develops and manages programs/initiatives that support the goals of the organization while increasing employee commitment and morale.

Maintain a company culture that fosters professionalism, a strong work ethic, honesty, and trust.


Management

Supervise assigned Human Resources staff.

Maintain solid HR generalist knowledge in areas such as legal compliance, benefits, compensation, training/development, employee relations, and other best practices

Manage and provide planning and direction for all benefit, retirement and compensation programs as well as maintain relationships with outside administrators and benefit broker and carriers.

Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.


Training and Development

Instruct and coach supervisors and managers in HR-related matters.

Develop and maintain a performance management system.

Recommend, develop, coordinate and/or conduct any training programs as needed. Assess training and development needs of the organization and individuals.


Duties/Responsibilities

Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

Manages the employee engagement process.

Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Travel

Travel is required 25% of the time for this position, annually.


Education and/or Experience

B.S. /B.A. in Human Resources or related field of study with a minimum 5 years of experience is preferred, or additional years of education and experience may be substituted for each other, as determined by Human Resources. Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of the job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard, calculator and telephone. They are regularly required to stand or walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift (10lbs) and have the ability to adjust vision for close vision work.
