Job Details Housing Maintenance Technician, Painter
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position of Housing Maintenance Technician, Painter in University Housing.
Duties include, but are not limited to: perform journey level work in the painting, finishing, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures; perform high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities; including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry; maintain documentation regarding work activities through StarRez housing software; request and utilize equipment and materials appropriately.; operate University vehicles, such as box truck, pick-up truck, van, forklift, man-lift, and golf cart; inspect Housing facilities and equipment; move furniture, supplies and equipment; promote and use best safety practices; complete all required trainings; complete general custodial work; participate in on-call rotation in coordination with other maintenance staff; follow emergency protocols and collaborate with Resident Success Staff in emergency situations; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years’ experience in trades related and general maintenance work, including painting. Must have a valid state driver’s license and satisfactory three (3) year driving record.

Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Must be able to work overtime; before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc.
Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Two (2) years experience in trades related and general maintenance work, including painting.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Licensure and/or Certification Must have a valid state driver’s license and satisfactory 3-year driving record.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and man-lift devices. Possess knowledge of safety practices and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
