JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for cleaning and attending to all rooms, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and related facilities in a clean and orderly manner. Janitors will care for all floors, rugs and carpets; clean and polish furniture and woodwork including desks, cabinets and tables; wash windows and walls; and perform related duties as assigned. Additionally, janitors will empty and clean waste receptacles, pick-up trash containers and empty into large bins and dumpsters. At times, Janitors may be asked to move and arrange furniture and equipment. This sometimes includes setting up furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies for special events and meetings. Janitors will learn and apply emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows schedule/checklist as closely as possible, but stays flexible to variances
• Records on schedule the times tasks are completed
• Cleans, dusts, vacuum and mops entire facility
• Takes ownership of areas of responsibility
• Responsible for cleaning up areas worked in and equipment used
• Attends department meetings as scheduled
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Creative and inventive in developing ways to make job more efficient
• Must be able to work independently
• Must get to know and understand the proper use of chemicals and cleaning materials
• Must be punctual, thorough and have a great work ethic

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in cleaning is helpful – Preferred 1 year

60 % standing 5% sitting 30 %walking 5% Lifting (40-50 lbs)
