Host Job Purpose Responsible for greeting and seating guests, maintaining the restaurant's appearance and ensures tables are clean and ready for guests. Assists servers in ensuring guests' needs are met in a clean and inviting environment
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greets customers in a genuine manner, asks if it is a customer's first visit and conducts restaurant tours. Offers customers their choice of table, presents menus, and introduces appetizers and beverages
  • Notifies the manager of all first-time customers
  • Sets up tables for large parties and provides any needed highchairs, boosters, or slings
  • Maintains an accurate wait list and provides quote times to customers
  • Maintains a clean and welcoming environment including a clean floor, windows, host stand, and menus
  • Notifies manager in the event of any issues or displeased customers
  • Performs opening and closing duties such as cleaning tasks in the host stand and surrounding area
  • Assists in delivering food and beverages to customers
  • Assists in cleaning and sanitizing tables
  • Sweeps dining room periodically
  • Maintains a safe working environment and reports any safety issues to management immediately
  • Polish silverware and bowls
  • Follows all sanitation and safety policies
  • Follows company cash handling policies and procedures
  • Maintains valid state and local food handlers and alcohol certifications as applicable
  • Demonstrates teamwork at every opportunity
  • Advises Restaurant Manager/General Manager/Regional Director of any non-routine situations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
  • Must have excellent verbal and customer service skills
  • Must be customer-centric, demonstrating a desire to be of service
  • Must be able to multi-task while maintaining required standards of operations
  • Must be able to address customer concerns in a manner that builds customer relations
  • Must be respectful of all customers, managers, team members, and vendors

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 lb.
  • Must be capable of constant walking, standing, stooping, and reaching in all directions
  • Must have manual dexterity
  • Must be available to work a variety of opens, swings, and closes including weekends and holidays

Verbal and Reasoning Requirements

Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, co-workers and managers. Must be able to engage in a two-way conversation with the customer on the floor. Must have the ability to read and/or follow verbal instructions and implement the same. Must be capable of applying common sense and understanding to carry out oral and/or written instructions. Must understand and adhere to service standards.
