Care Initiatives Hospice is now hiring a Volunteer Coordinator/Bereavement Counselor to join our Albia team.:
Summary::
As the Volunteer Coordinator / Bereavement Counselor you will work with and lead the volunteer staff while providing bereavement support to patients and families to meet their needs.:
Our hospice caregivers are uniquely qualified to attend to the needs of patients in the final stages of life. We meet the patient and family members where they are, going to their home, a long-term care center assisted living residence or hospital to administer compassionate hospice care.
Our approach addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those facing life-limiting illness for themselves and their families. We work closely with family members and caregivers to respect the wishes and needs of our patients and their loved ones with the utmost compassion, dignity, and respect for those in their final stages of life.
Duties:
Care Initiatives has implemented its Employee and Provider SARS-CoV-2 (“COVID-19”) Vaccine Policy pursuant to recent federal regulation, which requires all employees to have either their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or submit a medical or religious exemption request by February 14, 2022. If you have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, please be prepared to provide proof of vaccination upon hire. If you would like to submit a medical or religious exemption request, the appropriate forms will be provided to you upon hire.:

Duties:
- Implement the Volunteer Program according to regulatory and agency policy
- Screen, recruit, and train prospective volunteer for all settings
- Responsible for the assignment and ongoing supervision of all volunteers
- Arrange for counseling or provide counseling to meet the bereavement needs of the families/caregivers
- Follow operational policies and procedures to meet patient/family/caregiver needs in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and Care Initiatives Hospice Policies and Procedures
- Masters (preferred) or Baccalaureate degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, divinity or other field related to grief services or counseling
- Volunteer management certificate preferred
- Current driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
- Understanding of the healthcare system
- Volunteer leadership experience
- Understanding of end-of-life care experiences
- Knowledge of grief and bereavement theory and practice in counseling
- Experience in supervisory capacity preferred
- Experience in coordination of volunteer efforts preferred
- Practice in counseling preferred
