High School Biology Teacher

Mercy Career and Technical High School (Mercy CTE) is the only Catholic, co-educational, career and technical high school in the United States.

Program Description:

• Students at Mercy Career & Technical High School earn three credits in science.
• Ninth grade students complete a Physical Science course, tenth grade students complete a Biology course, and eleventh graders study GeoScience.

Position Responsibilities:

• Teach four sections of tenth grade Biology
• Assess students according to the educational framework of the school
• Participate in general faculty meetings, department meetings, and in-service days
• Complete other duties assigned by administration
• Work with a very caring, supportive faculty and staff

Applicant Requirements:

• Motivator – can inspire students to appreciate and enjoy math
• Creative - able to apply concepts to the career paths offered at Mercy CTE
• Able to integrate technology in curriculum
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in science is required.
• An instructional certification and experience as an educator are preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills and able to work with adolescents
• Current technology skills (Gmail, Google apps, PowerSchool, SmartBoard)
• Willingness to learn computer applications used at Mercy Career & Technical High School
• Able to obtain required clearances (listed on Work At Mercy web page)
• Demonstrates an appreciation of the Catholic faith

Schedule and Calendar Considerations:

• Work full school day (8:00 – 3:30)
• Work full school year (late August until mid-June)
• Attend weekly afternoon grade meetings during the year which end at 4:15 PM
• Participate in Parent Conferences (two per year) and Open Houses
• Follow normal school year calendar with holidays and breaks

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
