Job Description

The help desk (Information Technology)has the great responsibility of maintaining, processing, and troubleshooting military computer systems and operations. They will install, operate, and perform maintenance on equipment and devices and transfer data between information processing systems as well as troubleshoot computerized equipment for hardware and software malfunctions. They have to also perform all manner of installing and editing of computer programs and provide technical documentation and maintenance for programs. The help desk personal within the military must perform the system administrator duties such as compiling report data and quality control and may be called upon to help military civilians and Soldiers in the installation, operation, and maintenance of information processing equipment. One important duty of the help desk is to provide system administration to Tactical Battle Command Servers (TBC Server) in the tactical operations center (TOC). This is NOT a civilian contractor position. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Position is an entry level career. (The US Army has over 150 different jobs)

Job Duties

  • Installs, operates and maintains computer systems and local area networks (LAN).
  • Performs system administration (SA) and maintains computers and servers within the computing environment (CE) and the network environment (NE).
  • Performs network administration (NA); installs, configures and maintains network equipment within the LAN.
  • Installs, operates, and maintains commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment (i.e., routers, switches, desktop and laptop computers).
  • Provides direct support for Information Dissemination and Content Staging.
  • Performs Network Operations (NETOPS) Service Desk Management, which includes incident and problem processing, change request processing, availability management and user interaction.
  • Assists in the planning, configuration, management, and monitoring of the wide area network (WAN).

Full Paid Training

  • 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training (BCT).
  • 20 weeks Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.

Minimum requirements

  • Be between 17-34 years old. (Exceptions may apply, case by case until 38 years old only.)
  • No felonies.
  • Have good health.
  • Current High School Senior, High school graduate, GED, equivalent in your country of origin or higher.
  • Be permanent resident or US citizen. (Only) Note: If you are permanent residents, you will not qualify for some jobs that requires to have security clearances.
  • You must meet physical standards based on gender and age, height and weight or BMI.
  • No tattoos in neck face or hands. (Exceptions may apply, case by case.)
  • Have US state driving license. (optional)
