Position Summary
Responsible for operating and maintaining various equipment including excavators, backhoes, loaders, and dozers in a safe expeditious manner and in accordance with OSHA safe practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with operating safety rules and regulations per OSHA safe practices
- Inspect equipment and turn in written equipment report daily
- Prepare and maintain equipment for safe daily operations (i.e. fuel, grease etc.)
- Safely change buckets and attachments in a timely manner
- Understand mixing of soil and water content for proper backfill
- Able to perform safe and clean trench excavation and backfill
- Able to set and pull shield shoring in accordance to OSHA safe practices
- Able to calculate and set proper grades and elevations
- Able to interact with foreman, superintendents and governing authorities to effectively manage project
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of wet utility heavy equipment operator experience (MUST HAVE)
- Extensive knowledge and ability to install sewer, water, fire and storm drain
- CPR, Competent Person, Confined Space certifications preferred
- Able to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Able to commute to various sites in Southern CA (Los Angeles/Ventura/Riverside/San Bernardino/Orange Counties)
Physical Requirements
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects regularly throughout the work shift
- Able to work in sun, heat, dry, dirty and dusty conditions
- Able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds without assistance
- Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities
