Heavy Equipment Laborer/Pipe Layer (Central Oregon)

Mckernan Enterprises is seeking a skilled team member, we are a Central Oregon based excavation company that is seeking a career minded knowledgeable team member!

This position offers an opportunity to gain experience, training and knowledge at all levels of the trade. Installation of mainline pipe, utility's, general labor tasks will be the primary focus of the position. Candidates will have opportunity operate off-road trucks, water trucks and other equipment.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated person that is experienced with pipe laying, utility installation, compaction equipment and general laboring. Our ideal candidate would have experience and be familiar with mainline pipe installation and be familiar with residential (subdivisions) land development and public utility work.

The qualified applicant will be expected to work full time with optional and sometimes needed overtime with limited Saturday work on various projects. Project types vary from some public/prevailing wage to site development/infrastructure/commercial work. Applicant would be on different projects in the central Oregon region only! Experience, attitude and flexibility will be key considerations for the position. Please read thru the qualifications below.

Position qualifications and requirements:

1+ years experience in the excavation industry

Have and maintain safe work practices and project cleanliness

Must have Valid drivers license and dependable transportation

GPS experience (not required but helpful)

Experience with lasers and grade checking (not required but preferred)

Experience and understanding in mainline (sewer/water/storm) pipe laying/mainline trench installation

Be willing and skilled with use of shovels, rakes, jumping jacks and hand tools (hot saw/ concrete saw etc)

Maintain good personal hygiene

Be quality, safety and production minded

Be able to occasionally work overtime and weekends (40-50 hours is typical)

Be willing to help assist with all general labor operations and activitys

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Must be physically capable of getting in and out of deep excavations/trenches

Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
