Job Description

The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Our 60,000-square-foot facility is part of a unique collaboration that combines family recreation, education, sports, literacy, and wellness care on a single campus called “The Hill.” Hand in hand with our partners—St. Luke’s Health System, the West Ada School District, and the City of Meridian—the South Meridian Family Y will help us build A BETTER US.


This Group Exercise Coordinator is responsible for creating a friendly, helpful, positive atmosphere for members participating in group exercise classes through supervising assigned staff and by developing and managing high-quality health and well-being Group Exercise programs.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
  • Supervise Group Exercise staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, and on-going development.
  • Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Manage staff meetings to keep staff advised and informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, membership changes, policies, etc.
  • Provide excellent delivery of group exercise instruction to all members.
  • Actively works to increase group exercise participation.
  • Monitor monthly and annual group exercise statistics and produce reports needed for Director.
  • Continually focus on the enhancement and improvement of class offerings.
  • Handle and resolve class concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health and fitness field and/or equivalent experience.
  • National certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NETA, CrossFit, or, YMCA Foundations of Group exercise).
  • Experience teaching Group Exercise (one year minimum preferred).
  • HIPAA training required in first 10 days of employment.

Schedule:

This is a full time position Monday - Friday days with some weekends and evenings as needed.
