The Global Consumer Bank’s North America Technology organization is seeking a sharp, talented and energetic leader for the delivery of a highly automated quality controls platform in support of an ambitious customer experience roadmap. As the leader of Quality Engineering & Controls, you'll provide the platform, processes and structure needed to deliver industry leading products with high quality and at scale. You'll need to be a pragmatic visionary who can rapidly translate business needs & risks into controls and solutions that provide quality assurance to senior management across technology and business.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, Risk & Controls, the Head of Quality Engineering & Controls, GCT NAM will work closely with Heads of technology, CBORC-T, leaders in 2nd and 3rd line of defense to put together a comprehensive controls framework that ensures quality across every product release in the region. In addition, S/he will be responsible for running regression test cycles before software deployment to customers and setting up a test automation center of excellence that will pursue innovative methodologies for reducing end-to-end test cycle times.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing a comprehensive quality controls strategy for Global Consumer Technology, North America
- Responsible for partnering with technology leaders in the region to ensure risks are defined well and controls have been implemented to mitigate these risks
- Accountable for providing approvals for deploying software applications to production
- Collaborate with risk managers across all three lines of defense to continuously monitor business risk and develop appropriate controls that ensure high quality of products
- Implement a fully automated quality governance platform
- Lead a Test Automation Center of Excellence to define, manage, govern technologies that aim to reduce E2E test cycle times
- Partner with engineering teams to shift-left quality checks and deliver high quality software to user acceptance testing
- Partner with global technology and Enterprise Architecture strategy that advances the business needs for agility, cost and stability
- Collaborates with key stakeholders, including the regional heads of engineering & architecture, GCT leadership, Enterprise Technology leadership to create pragmatic, commercially-executable strategies for improving the technology environment
- Demonstrate technology thought leadership with respect to the key technologies and practices adopted, challenging status quo to position Citi to compete in an era of increased competition and digital disruption
- Maintains and applies a broad and current industry perspective on technology trends/opportunities, leading practices and our position/capability/performance relative to direct competitors and parallel industries/organizations
- Foster productive business relationships and build strong sponsorship of technology risk & controls
- Responsible for transforming governance from an after-thought to a fully-automated and integrated function within the entire software engineering pipeline
- Maintains comprehensive technology roadmaps, encompassing application and related infrastructure services
- Partners with the Head of Development and Core Services, Engineering & Architecture to offer practical solutions to AppDev teams to improve speed and quality in development through adoption of best practices, engineered tools and processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years in senior technology/engineering leadership roles within financial services or a related industry
- A proven track record of leading an automation-first quality engineering function and having deployed industry grade software products with high quality
- A proven track record in leading strategic change in a complex environment to create sustainable improvement in service, cost, productivity, maturity and/or risk.
- Experience in operational leadership of application and/or infrastructure technology and a track-record for world-class performance and continuous improvement.
- Experience in current technologies/practices including SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, micro-services, APIs, DevOps/CI/CD, and solution and application architecture design.
- Proven ability to develop and sustain a high performing team and a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Commercially savvy and experienced in formulating and executing innovative commercial arrangements for products and/or services.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels within an organization.
Ideal Experience:
- Experience in software and infrastructure design and delivery in large scale complex environment where legacy and digital technologies co-exist.
- Experience in the adoption/use of an agile methodology and the transition from or co-existence with traditional SDLC methods and tools.
- Broad financial expertise with knowledge of corporate affairs, financial and economic fundamentals, and business policies, products, processes, systems and roles.
