Representing the very best in healthcare, UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals and more than 50 clinics across east Texas. With nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed in-patient beds, UT Health East Texas provides healthcare services to thousands of patients annually through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service in a metropolitan service area of a quarter-million people.

Our UT Health Olympic Center is seeking an experienced Water Group Fitness Instructor. We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills in our Pittsburg Olympic Center where you will be responsible for:

  • Greets each user who enters the group fitness area with an enthusiastic attitude
    and ensures they get to know the individual by name
  • Presents a well planned, energetic, entertaining, effective and safe group fitness
    experience whenever they participate in a class
  • Monitors user exercise response and makes adjustments as necessary
  • Provides support by properly maintaining the group fitness area to ensure
    functionality and safety
  • Promotes the facility’s services and offerings to class participants
  • Attends all regularly scheduled staff meetings and participates in required
    training

Education:
  • High School Graduate 18 years of age or older
Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience or 200 hours as a group fitness instructor
preferred
  • Teaching experience should include classes similar to those to be instructed

Certification and Licensure:
  • Current certification as a group fitness instructor or leader from a national fitness
organization
  • If instructing classes in yoga, Pilates, spinning, or related specialty class, must
have either a nationally recognized certification in that specialty or evidence of
training in that specialty
  • CPR and AED certification
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (for water instructors)

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/carry 25lbs.
  • Frequent and prolonged bending, stooping, crouching, walking, pushing, pulling
and standing.
  • Must use oral communication to perform work
  • Must use written and/or verbal sources of information
  • Excellent listening, hearing and visual skills
Environmental Conditions:
  • Work is performed under moderate noise conditions
  • Travel may be required
  • Wet, humid conditions not related to weather
  • Work near moving mechanical parts
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Risk of electrical shock, radiation and/or drowning
  • Subjected to irregular hours
  • Fast paced environment
  • Subject to many interruptions
