Reports to: Group Fitness Manager (GFM)
Criteria:
AFAA or ACE Primary Group Exercise Certification - See the Group Fitness Team Handbook for details
AFF-approved specialty certification(s) for active formats - Ex: MOSSA, Zumba, Spinning, RYT200, etc.
CPR and AED Certification
Proficient oral, written, and technology communication (email/text) skills
As an AFF team member, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
To Get & Keep Members.
Perform duties according to the company’s Mission, Vision, Pillars of Success, Service Standards, and Business philosophy, and continually provide optimal performance for net member growth, retention, and club profitability.
Provide the highest quality of customer service to all members by greeting them with a welcoming, friendly, energetic, and positive attitude at all times. Use members’ names as often as possible.
Embrace and follow the company Service Standards, the guidelines outlined in the AFF Training and Policy Manuals, and any applicable department-specific team handbooks.
Know the club’s emergency response protocol and be prepared to act. Exercise sound judgment with safety as a priority.
Arrive to work 10 minutes early. Wear department-specific uniform.
Actively participate in all department and club meetings.
Be a team player by contributing to both club and organizational goals.
Maintain open and honest communication with the team, partnering together as fitness professionals.
As a Group Fitness Instructor, additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Align with company and industry guidelines for safe and effective group fitness classes and always deliver appropriate modifications.
Stay active and current with AFF-approved certifications, including CPR and specialty certifications for your programs. Provide current copies of all approved instructor certifications to the GFM.
Participate actively in AFF-recommended education, workshops, trainings, events, meetings, upskilling, etc.
Arrive to class 10 minutes early, help set up, provide thorough class introductions, teach world-class programs, and stay after to clean up, answer questions, and invite members and guests to participate in additional classes and club activities.
Begin and end classes on time and follow the scheduled, written formats as defined by the Group Fitness Director (GFD).
Motivate members and the team to achieve their fitness goals by offering positive encouragement and an enjoyable, non-competitive environment.
Complete all administrative work completely and on time. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly availability, address/phone number changes, accurate class attendance numbers, and any additional requests.
Respond within 24 hours to all time-sensitive email, text, and/or phone requests from team leaders and fellow instructors.
Follow the department procedures for finding qualified substitutions and try to minimize the use of subs (See the Group Fitness Team Handbook for details).
Inform the GFM of any equipment needs or malfunctions.
Wear appropriate attire in order to present a positive, professional, fit, and healthy image.
