Job Description
Overview:
The Group Exercise Coordinator?s primary responsibility is to hire, schedule, train, supervise and evaluate all group exercise team members. Additional responsibilities include marketing and recruiting potential new participants to group exercise programs, as well as providing other physical activity programming such as personal training and fitness center supervision. Successful candidate will be highly collaborative within Cone Health and with programming partners.
Responsibilities:
Manages all aspects of selecting, hiring, and orienting new group exercise instructors. Assists Well-Being Manager in maintaining and updating instructor files, credentials, and availability.
Evaluates the quality of all group exercise classes, completes annual instructor evaluations, and assesses needs of participants on an on-going to enhance the program accordingly.
Displays creativity in all areas of exercise leadership, thus reducing boredom and increasing participant compliance and motivation.
Leads annual group exercise meeting for all instructors.
Teaches a minimum of 2 group exercise classes per week to establish and maintain credibility with members and staff to various fitness levels and adheres to appropriate safety guidelines keeping classes inviting, challenging, and well attended.
Takes initiative and assists clients with exercise techniques in all exercise settings. Attempts to motivate clients by maintaining a positive, energetic demeanor, displaying creativity and striving to make the exercise sessions fun and safe at all times.
Provides personal training and group training and adheres to American College of Sports Medicine for safety and exercise prescription guidelines.
Assists members and clients in establishing effective, SMART fitness/wellness goals and works with client to develop the most effective plan to achieve those goals. Utilizes health coaching techniques to achieve behavior change with clients/patients.
Is seen as a role model for a positive, healthy lifestyle.
Designs and implements physical activity programming initiatives and special projects for Cone Health employees and community members.
Develops monthly group exercise schedules, tracks attendance, participation, and performance data related to group exercise programming.
Develops and implements group exercise programming and ways to reach potential new participants while being fiscally responsible.
Develops and provides health, fitness, activity and other information to members through bulletin boards, signage, fliers, and other forms of communication.
Documents necessary information in accurate and timely manner and assists in data management.
Communicates with staff and management in order to assure a high quality of service to all participants.
Ensures exercise facilities and equipment are safe, clean, and an inviting exercise environment.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required
Bachelor's Degree (BS) in physical education, recreation, health or exercise science or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required
1 to 3 years work in health and fitness industry
Preferred
Previous supervisory experience
Experience in teaching various group exercise formats
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required
Nationally recognized personal training certifications such as ACSM, NASM AFAA or other NCCA- Accredited Certifications that require continuing education for recertification.
Preferred
Certification as ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM EP-C)
