Job Description
Position Overview:
Greets all patients and customers coming into the department / lobby courteously and professionally as they arrive. Facilitates the flow of patients within the waiting area throughout the shift. Ensures patientsare registered in the system in the order in which they arrived and in a timely and accurate manner. Forwards patient’s account to the Financial Counselor if the insurance authorization is still outstanding. Answers incoming telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner and as immediate as possible. Provide coverage for registration areas as needed. Orders department supplies and monitoring par levels. Interviews patients / family to obtain the required patient and guarantor demographic and insuranceinformation. Enters patient information into the Patient Registration system. In addition to the key accountabilities listed, employees working in this position are expected to accept and perform other duties as requested. Selected candidates will be assigned a primary location and will be expected to travel to other peninsula locations (within a 20 mile radius) on occasion. The duration of this temporary assignment is estimated to be between 3 and 6 months.
Qualifications:
Education/ Knowledge, includingLicensure/ Certification/ RegistrationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required. ExperiencePrevious hospital or medical office experience is required.
Skills
Knowledge of Government regulations and requirements, managed care contracts and third partyrequirements. Knowledge of medical terminology. General Understanding of spreadsheet/e-mail applications, and registration systems. Knowledge of English language w/basic written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, problem solve and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to maintain levels of inventory to assure availability. Basic math skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail. Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
