We are seeking a highly motivated Graphic Design Lead (West) to join our team. The Graphic Design Lead will be responsible for oversight of design projects from concept to completion.

This position is with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) Office of Corporate Communications' (OCC) providing Visual Communications Services. The Graphic Design Lead will be responsible for oversight of design projects from concept to completion. The Graphic Design Lead will lead organization-wide projects that involve conceptualizing, structuring, and presenting information and graphic design. Graphic Design Lead will create the design and layout of collateral that includes digital signage/web graphics, engravings, print ads, handouts, infographics, posters, PowerPoint visualizations, and publications, created to communicate with existing and potential clients.
Graphic Design Leads the development, planning, and organization of the overall technical photographic aspects of assignments in collaboration with officials who are responsible for project substance to meet the requirements. Plans and organizes the overall technical photographic coverage for a variety of events and developments and improvises photographic methods and techniques or selects and alters secondary photographic features (e.g. scenes, backgrounds, colors, lighting).
Other responsibilities include:
- Works with the Program Manager to select and manage professional talent.
- Produce approximately 2000 graphic design products each year for the following types;
- Digital Signage / Web Graphics. (20%)
- Engravings. Engraving includes engravings on brass, glass, plastic, and wood. (10%)
- Handouts. Fact sheets, flyers, newsletters, tri-folds, pamphlets, programs, etc. (10%)
- Historical Displays and Exhibits. Production timeline varies depending upon the exhibit size. (5%)
- Infographics. (10%)
- Miscellaneous. Cover Designs, logos, coins, etc. (5%)
- Posters. Posters can range in sizes from 11” x 17” inches up to 24” x 30”. (20%)
- PowerPoint Visualizations. (10%)
- Publications. NGA on average completes approximately 4-6 publications over 20 pages annually. These can range from 21 pages to 200 pages. The remaining are typically under 20 pages. (10%)
Required Qualifications:
- Ten years of relevant experience in the career field of graphic design and familiarity with a wide range of design software applications.
- Demonstrates expertise in all manner of graphic design, with particular emphasis on strategic and technical communications.
- Expert-level skills for developing and implementing creative visual and strategic solutions from scientific presentations to websites to infographics.
- Familiar with Windows based computer systems.
- Familiar with Laser engraver.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiar with Adobe Creative design software.
- Must know how to create and combine words, symbols, and images to create a visual representation of ideas and messages.
- Familiar with corporate and government design communication etiquette.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment developing and ensuring quality creative designs within tight deadlines.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Demonstrates initiative and innovation appropriate to the assignment and within deadline constraints.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology.
- Strong visual design including use of typography, composition, and color.
- Experience with senior government officials and agency directors.
Education Qualifications:
Requires an Bachelor's Degree in Graphic design a related field and at least 10 years of related experience. Four (4) years of related experience may be substituted for a degree.
