Description:

To conduct the full range of activities required to research, prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to foundations on behalf of the Young Life ministry.

Essential Duties:Foundation Relationships
  • Assist staff in executing a plan to build relationships with appropriate staff and trustees of foundations prior to submission of a proposal.
  • Assist staff in developing a specific thanking and reporting strategy with the foundations that align with Development departments’ core donor care philosophy.
  • Assist staff in managing the funds received from foundations that align with excellent standards of stewardship.
  • Encourage and remind areas to re-submit proposals with established foundations according to their grant cycles.
Writing
  • Give leadership to the development and submission of high quality, appropriate and innovative proposals to foundations to benefit the field.
  • Develop, write and submit persuasive letters of inquiry, proposals and applications to select foundations.
  • Interpret grant proposal requirements.
  • Track results of grant proposals.
  • Maintain proposal records in database and in paper files.
  • Review, proof and edit communique going to foundations.
  • Improve the percentage rate of grants successfully funded through improved storytelling and increased proposal volume.
  • Assist with social media communication updates with relevant and educational posts.
  • Assist where needed in helping field staff write CASE statements.
  • Assist where needed in helping the Development department write copy for brochures, social media, blogs, etc. to aid in marketing specific initiatives.
Research
  • Perform prospect research on foundations.
  • Analyze and determine whether a foundation is a viable prospect for various Young Life ministries/campaigns
  • Provide research on corporations as required.
  • Gather information and statistics relevant to the field need for which funding is sought.
Partnership
  • Work in partnership with the director of Foundation and Corporate Relations to achieve department goals and report on progress of goals.
  • Work in partnership with Development Services staff, divisional and regional campaign directors to provide staff a consistent and seamless level of service.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support the major foundation work.

Qualifications:Education:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with two to three years of relevant work experience.
Working Conditions:
  • Office environment with some travel.
  • Position has the opportunity to be remote.
Experience Required for the Job:
  • Past proposal or professional writing required.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proven experience in positive interpersonal interactions.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in persuasive writing.
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Estimated hiring range based on education, experience, etc.: $3,834 - $4,799 per month.
