GHD is seeking a Graduate Engineer/Scientist - Environmental Waste Management with a desire to work in the growing field of renewable energy and sustainable waste management, to work with our Future Energy/Waste Management team on providing environmental consulting services to various clients in the Midwest and across North America. This position will be based out of our Farmington Hills, MI Office.

Responsibilities will be but are not limited to:

  • Assist with delivering multi-discipline renewable energy, waste and resource management related projects requiring permitting, operations support, and detailed design.
  • Effectively working with key technical specialists, multi-discipline engineering leads, project team members, and delivery managers
  • Prepare, plan, and analyze/review technical studies, design documents, and similar reports/documents
  • Developing and implementing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules
  • Report writing to document field activities and investigation findings
  • Develop studies and designs to support permitting applications in collaboration with subject experts
  • Develop working relationships with public and private clients and government staff.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook; CAD experience a plus, but not required
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Ability to perform field work and travel, with occasional overnight travel throughout the US
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, hard-working, and have strong written and technical skills
  • Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as independently
  • Dedication to safety utilizing a behavior based safety (BBS) culture in all aspects of the job

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical or Process Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent from an accredited university
  • 0 to 2+ years of experience
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
