Golden Queen Mining Company, LLC operates a gold and silver mining operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed agglomerated ore.
The Company is seeking an Ore Control Technician I for its Soledad Mountain Project. The candidate does not need field experience but will have to be a quick learner to be able to make a positive contribution to ongoing ore control efforts. This is a safety sensitive position.
Major Responsibilities
- Sample blast holes using proper methodologies and attentiveness to sample integrity.
- Work closely with the laboratory department to facilitate sample drop-offs and maintain proper documentation of samples submitted.
- Deploy and detect blast movement monitors.
- Identify rock alteration types in the field and perform alteration mapping.
- Digitize alteration maps using AutoCAD software.
- Communicate with multiple departments including Mine Operations, Survey, and Drill and Blast, and provide additional support to the Ore Control and Geology staff as needed.
Additional Duties
- This position requires a high degree of situational awareness and strong adherence to safety behaviors. Most job duties will be outside of a vehicle in close proximity to heavy equipment, highwalls, and potentially open voids in the bench floor. A successful candidate must demonstrate safety as a priority.
- Must be willing to work in physically challenging situations with diverse weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, wind, cold), rugged terrain, heavy equipment operating nearby, and threat from desert wildlife.
- Be able to operate a 4-wheel drive truck in rugged terrain and safely share the road with heavy equipment.
- Competence using Windows operating system and programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be capable of quickly learning new software.
- Perform job responsibilities with integrity under minimal to no supervision.
- Expected to work weekends and possible overtime.
- Be familiar with and comply with the Company’s health, safety, and environmental policies.
Requirements

- Current driver’s license.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Must be physically fit with ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Maintain a professional presence and cooperate with multiple departments.
- Ability to follow directions with integrity to perform the job correctly with minimal to no supervision.
