Job Description

Job Summary:

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for sustaining course functions by directing course development and turf management activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the appearance and safety of the course by diagnosing and treating agronomic issues; supervising irrigation scheduling and repairs; maintaining a wide variety of turf grasses in extreme climatic conditions; managing course preparations for tournament and daily play; integrating environmental programs specializing in Integrated Pest, overseeing maintenance of the golf cart fleet coordinating , scheduling and supervising capital improvement projects.
  • Manages maintenance operations involved with maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop, golf carts and clubhouse.
  • Selects, trains, schedules and evaluates maintenance staff.
  • Determines appropriate steps of corrective discipline up to and including termination as necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring maintenance staff performs duties in compliance with highest level of safety standards.
  • Develops and executes annual maintenance plan and budget for course.
  • Tracks maintenance expenses including payroll, supplies, fertilizer, chemicals, etc.
  • Develops and maintains records and reports, orders parts, supplies, and equipment as needed.\

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Resolves technical maintenance problems with the assistance of the Regional Superintendent.
  • Conducts regular safety meetings.
  • Maintains positive relations with members of the community.
  • Implements and supports AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management.
