Job Description
AECOM is looking for an experienced GIS Specialist to work as an on-site contractor at a client site to provide GIS programmatic support, data management and analysis services. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervising/conducting editing procedures in ArcMap, working with enterprise geodatabases, managing content and developing apps in portal for ArcGIS, formatting data to the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE), creating and maintaining Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) compliant metadata, and collaborating with subject matter experts to obtain geospatial data requirements.

This position is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA. This position is 1 hour north of San Diego, but it is not in San Diego CA

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Works under very minimal supervision.

+ Responsible for the designing and programming of SDSFIE compliant databases.

+ Serves as the technical lead supporting the creation and visualization of data layers and map products using the esri software suite.

+ Field data collection using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), laser scanning, or related technology.

+ Manage the internal publication of standard map products and maintain, update and document GIS data standards/specifications.

+ Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed work. Independently responds to technical/administrative instructions on results expected.

+ Devises new approaches to problems and coordinates technical aspects of work.

+ Meets with subject matter experts to discuss topics, such as technical specifications, customized solutions and operational problems.

+ Review technical requirements to meet data development objectives and perform quality assurance on data deliverables received for inclusion in the GIS.

+ Provide consultation for GIS strategic planning and resolution of issues, technical assistance and training and liaison support with installation/regional IGI&S Manager or other functional communities.

+ Manage web-based geospatial content/apps/systems and maintain a digital GIS Program Binder detailing the processes and actions involved in completing assigned duties.

+ May direct the work of Level I and II GIS Specialists. Responsibilities could include overall project or task management.

+ Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity.

Minimum Requirements

+ BA/BS in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS) + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

+ Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

+ Able to obtain a secret clearance

+ Valid driver’s license

+ The ability to work with a team of professionals

+ Excellent time management skills

+ Able to work independently and communicate directly with customers from environmental, energy and other business areas

+ 5 plus years of experience with GIS, ArcGIS, and GPS.
