GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The GIS Developer builds GIS software and helps manage ArcGIS Server technologies to support company operations. The developer will extend capabilities of Loram’s GIS Server and Runtime products, set up automated data processing services, support end users, set up report generation, and will support the GIS Manager/Architect for desktop and runtime associated tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Functional & Technical Skills
- Utilize Esri ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server to create mapping products for external and internal clients. Develop and implement solutions using Esri’s .NET SDK’s and the JavaScript API as needed
- Assist with GIS application documentation, account management, technical support, and application administration
- Provide documentation and rigorous unit tests for existing and new GIS software modules
Customer Interaction/Management/Support
- Engage with relevant stakeholders and senior leadership to assess location awareness needs and identify appropriate technical and scientific approaches to integrate GIS products into decision-making processes
- Manage user requests, database integrity, and ensure that ArcGIS feature services are current and providing the appropriate information to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with marketing, engineering, and project management to develop GIS applications and prepare technical sessions to showcase and explain mapping products
- Provide technical training to internal and external customers in the use of GIS applications. Explain technical issues and solutions to audiences of widely varying technical abilities clearly and patiently
- Install, configure, test, troubleshoot and performance tune GIS Solutions
- Assess new project requests and perform spatial analysis as needed
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
- Use Network Analyst, Linear referencing, and/or other link-node solutions in support of maintenance schedule creation
- Implement software installs using remote software or by making physical visits to company equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Geography, Urban Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, or related field
Experience: 3+ Years Technical experience, 2+ years developing backend applications with Python using the ESRI suite, and 2+ years creating SQL queries. 1+ years of experience with Java Script.
- 7+ years combination of education and experience in GIS development and programming
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Advanced Degree in Geographic Information Science and/or Computer Science
- Formal programming training in C# .NET
- Work experience in a transportation or logistics industry preferred.
