About The Role::This position is responsible for interacting with engineers and surveyors in order to create GIS data and drawings from inception to completion with minimal supervision and direction.
What You Will Be Doing::- Researching information including survey data, aerial photographs, LIDAR data, environmental data, transportation information, and utility data
- Work with utility engineers and surveyors to update GIS databases, maps, and other important figures
- Run analysis on GIS data to support ongoing projects
- Create paper and web maps of utility networks using GIS software to tell a story that can be universally interpreted
- Responsible for converting data in and out of a GIS database
- Create and update metadata along with documenting GIS procedures.
- Will use GIS knowledge in order to assist in coming up with creative solutions to ongoing projects
- Help in maintaining Pickett’s map portal and server
- Utilize ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ESRI Enterprise, AutoCAD, Google Earth along with other industry related software as needed to complete projects
What You Bring::
- 6+ years of experience in performing GIS related activities, or a combination of experience and education (required)
- A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider is a condition of initial and continued employment (required)
- Ability to work in a safe manner and obey safety regulations at all times
- Demonstrated proficiency in ESRI software (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro)
- Strong cartography skills in creating paper and web maps
- Familiarity with Enterprise GIS database support, maintenance, and management
- Knowledge on using Model Builder and Python to create models for geoprocessing tasks, automation, and data management
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D
- Experience with maintaining and editing GIS databases
- Knowledge of GPS equipment
- Demonstrated proficiency in handling multiple tasks daily and weekly
- Strong desire to advance your knowledge and keep up to date with upgrades in technology
- Communicate technical information both verbally and in writing
- Able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
- Ability to work overtime as required and/or travel for out of town assignments
