Under general supervision, is responsible for supporting Bexar County Information Technology team; will support the mission of the County, ensuring successful delivery of IT services as defined in the duties and responsibilities. This position will represent the County in a professional and effective manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public.

- Serves as subject matter expert, individually motivated and operating with a sense of urgency and personal accountability
- Responsible for compiling, maintaining and performing quality control checks on basic spatial and tabular data
- Responsible for safeguarding sensitive information
- Responsible for the safety of self and indirectly responsible for the safety of co-workers, subordinates and the general public
- Applies basic knowledge of established GIS principles and best practices to independently resolve problems and make minor changes to existing processes/systems
- Produces mapping projects for internal and external uses
- Designs and produces models using spatial and tabular data
- Performs basic analysis on spatial and tabular data
- Digitizes maps utilizing GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing Software
- Prepares a variety of GIS projects for internal and external customers
- Organizes, maintains and archives computer files, drawings, maps and files
- Compiles information for requests for GIS data
- Conducts general computer troubleshooting
- Prepares and prints large-scale GIS mapping
- Performs other related technology duties and projects as assigned
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 1-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of GIS technology and various digital data formats; knowledge of GPS inputs; knowledge of GIS principles, practices, capabilities and limitations with proficiency in GIS related software (e.g. ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, and ArcPad)
- Proficiently skill in ArcGIS software, related data, metadata, and data modeling; skill in GIS data processing and demonstrated ability in digitizing, operating a personal computer and peripheral equipment and utilizing software; skill in communicating technical information to individuals with varying levels of computer literacy
- Ability to ensure proper procedures are followed when collecting, editing and publishing data; ability to interpret statistical data; ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public
- Demonstrates technological intuitiveness
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- Required to be on call 24 hours
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- May be required to work weekends
- Experience with most ESRI Arc products
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Frequently moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
- Occasionally moves objects weighing up to 15-30 pounds
- Occasionally move about the office / telework office
- Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions of the job in an office / telework environment
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
