This position is located in the Corrective Action & Quality Assurance Section of the Underground Storage Tank Management (UST) Division of the Bureau of Land and Waste Management. The individual will be responsible for oversight of assessment investigations and the cleanup of releases from regulated underground storage tanks. Job duties will include: directing site rehabilitation work to remediate contamination and prevent impact to human health and the environment; reviewing hydrogeological assessment reports and Quality Assurance Plans for technical completeness and compliance with Risk-Based Corrective Action criteria; providing technical assistance and information to the public, UST owners, and site rehabilitation contractors; contaminate fate and transport groundwater modeling to establish Site- Specific Target Levels to determine the level of corrective action needed at UST sites; performing database and records management, review and approval cost agreements, and oversight of bid solicitations on Pay for Performance site rehabilitation activities. Job duties will also include conducting field audits, limited field investigations, environmental sampling, and coordination of emergency response actions, as needed.
A bachelor's degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology or geological engineering.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements: Requires computer skills (data management, word processing); valid driver's license / good driving record; physically able to lift 40 lbs.; and the ability to perform field activities in varied conditions. Requires the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Ability to work individually and in team settings.
Educational Credentials: Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of their college transcript to the interview or upload a copy as an attachment to their job application.
