The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overall leadership and management of the First Choice organization in all facets of the business. The GM will report to the Senior Management of First Choice. This individual will be responsible for the daily monitoring, dispatching and follow up of all activities including but not limited to Operations; Staffing and Recruiting; Finance and all Administrative needs to help to shape both program and development strategy for the organization. The GM’s primary responsibility is to efficiently plan and support the business development and Operational and Administrative needs throughout the First Choice network. This position is a key leader of the organization and requires professionalism in all forms of communication, including written and verbal presentations and in-person interactions with all Independent Contractors, staff, and leadership team. This position will also require the ability to plan and implement current and new policies and procedures as needed to meet the goals of the company including budget and financial goals of their operation. He or she will play an important role in carrying out Senior Managements directives as needed to meet the Company’s goals and objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: · This position will lead and direct the daily operational activities of the dispatching, monitoring and follow through of all logistical processes. · This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of processes, policies, and procedures to efficiently manage the assigned departments including, Courier Services; Dispatch; Training Team; Field Operations; Operational Administration and Operational Current/Future Planning, scheduling, asset management, and other operations responsibility. · Reviews and responsible for coordinating and directing activities to provide managers and customers with logistics technology to ensure economical and effective support for transportation and warehouse systems services meet our customer’s expectations. · Lead supply chain improvements in all areas of our logistics operations, strategic initiatives and /or space and capacity planning. · Lead the team in performing operational analysis, process improvement, capacity planning and project management. · Specific emphasis is placed upon the ability to generate, develop, and implement logistics-related cost-reduction projects utilizing all human resources to improve productivity, quality, and profitability for the company’s logistics and warehouse operations.
· Provide expertise in various logistics elements in determining and solving problems arising from various factors, like operational constraints, equipment needs, facilities requirements or needs, location, human factors. · Conducts field site visits and facility surveys to evaluate operations and recommends changes. · Analyzes proposed schedules, routes and rates, initiates preparation and distribution of proposed schedule changes, and submit analyses of data changes make recommendations to senior leadership. · Reviews cost statements to locate excessive expenses, and develops plans, policies, and budgets to achieve maximum profitability. · Selects and recommends personnel for development and provides direction in the training to support that development. · Manages and ensures the department compliance with customer contracts and Federal, State and Local Regulations. · Ensures the efficient usage of department technology including routing, transportation management. · Lead the team to recommend constant continuous improvement measures. · Demonstrates effective leadership by managing the timely department reviews, recommends personnel for staff positions, and ensures proper training and development programs for assigned personnel for supervisory positions. · Provide timely and accurate Dashboards including customer and corporate KPI (Key Performance Indicators). · This position will be required to travel to various assigned locations up to 10% annually, but may be more as determined by the Company · Follows all workplace processes and standards. · Follows and implements all company policies and procedures as specified by the various supporting departments including Accounting, Human Resources, Administration, IT, Safety, and Quality. · Collaborate and provide input on costing for existing and new sales with the Sales team · Project management. · Strong financial understanding and previous P & L responsibility is required” · Collaborate with the President & CEO on organizational initiatives put forward · Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises the Operations Leadership Team and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the assigned position. This position will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and assisting in disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position will also assist with interviewing, hiring, safety, and training of employees. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Extensive experience in the recruiting and managing Independent Contract drivers. Must have at least 5 years of managing employees within a departmental environment. This position prefers a Bachelor of Science degree in logistics or supply chain management or a related field with a minimum of 10 year’s experience in a Transportation/Logistic Industry in a leadership position with a mid to large fleet. Prior experience working in a 3PL environment in the just in time (JIT), or time sensitive freight industry is preferred. Ability to be a strong leader, build relationship with staff and customers, and have a passion for continuous improvement is a must. SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate the needs of customers and executed by our teams with strong analytical skills, leadership skills, planning skills, project development skills and excellent problem solving skills working individually and in a team environment. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment. Must possess excellent personal computer skills and having working knowledge of a transportation software i.e. Xcelerator, Streets & Trips, etc., and Microsoft Office products software i.e.; Word, Outlook, and Excel. Knowledge of Transportation fleet models; Extensive knowledge in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (DOT) and CTPAT.
