Job Description
JOB TITLE: General Manager
REPORTING TO: Market Leader
DEPARTMENT: Guest Services
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt/Hourly
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The General Manager is responsible for driving sales & profitability and delivering superior guest service & the highest quality baked goods.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations:
- Executes a flawless bakery operation in accordance with the Excellence Program
- Builds genuine guest connections and delivers world class hospitality to Makes Days Better and holds team members accountable to the same standard
- Ensures compliance with all SusieCakes policies and procedures
- Executes marketing initiatives and campaigns as directed by HOST
- Supports and works in the kitchen and manages the production process to ensure quality products are delivered
- Understands and is fluent in the production planning process and ensures appropriate product levels utilizing the PMIX tool
- Ensure that recipes are followed 100% of the time and that all tastes profiles are appropriate
People:
- Ensures effective cross-training of team members and that checklists and training trackers are followed and complete
- Partners with Market Leader and HR to coach and address poor performance in a timely manner
- Partners with Market Leader and HR on all compliance related issues
Financial:
- Manages P&L with a primary focus on labor, COGS as well as other operating expenses.
- Builds efficient Guest Services labor schedules that are consistent with sales forecasts and budgets
- Reviews Culinary schedules to ensure that total bakery coverage is accounted for
- Ensures daily cash deposits are accurate and deposited at bank (as appropriate)
- Prepares paperwork and maintains records for bi – weekly payroll
Facility/Safety:
- Ensures proper safety procedures are being followed
- Maintains a clean and sanitary environment in accordance with the Excellence Log and health department standards
- Ensures that the Ecolab (Pest Elimination & Chemical) standards are consistently maintained
- Manages unscheduled bakery maintenance as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years of managerial/leadership experience in the luxury, hospitality, food service and/or retail industries
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or hospitality management, preferred
- Ability to work in multiple regional locations
- Ability to work in cross functional roles as needed (front-of house & back-of-house)
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule according to business needs
- Ability to transport product and make deliveries when needed
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Ability to read and analyze a P&L and uses the tool to effectively drive the business
- Working knowledge of MS office programs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent walking, kneeling, bending and reaching overhead
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds
