The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound tests on all age groups following established policies and procedures. Obtains information about internal organs, fluid accumulations, masses, development of fetuses, peripheral vascular and cardiac areas. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the Ultrasound Department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the units policies and procedures and skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each individual’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Must be ARRT (R) and ARDMS or ARRT in sonography credentialed or eligible. Must be willing to do both xray and ultrasound. Knowledge in both general and vascular ultrasound needed and willing to train in Adult Echo. Successfully pass a certification examiniation by ARRT in radiology. State licensure for UT. Maintain certification & licensure with appropriate continuing education requirements. RDMS or equivalent certification within six (6) months of hiring. BLS within 60 days of hire.
