Marlborough’s Vision Statement: Equity leads Education
Marlborough’s Mission Statement: Where Learning Sparks Purpose
Marlborough’s Mission defines the School as “an independent, urban day school serving a diverse group of young women.” We believe a diverse faculty is essential to the Mission of the School, for the following reasons:
- We instill confidence and cultivate leadership potential within each student and serve as role models in inspiring them to pursue their personal best.
- We arm each graduate with the skills and motivation to create meaningful connections with people throughout the nation and across the world.
- We serve as role models for our students with teaching responsibilities that extend beyond the classroom and the curriculum.
It is our responsibility to employ a diverse group of educators who exemplify excellence in teaching and leadership, and teach by example as well as by pedagogy.
The Performing Arts Department at Marlborough believes that there are interrelationship and interdependence among all disciplines in the arts. The departments’ programs are designed to enable students to form an appreciation for the creative process, to develop the personal commitment needed to complete a piece of work, to develop an appropriate level of technique and skill in their chosen disciplines, and to recognize artistic quality. Students are expected to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form about the art genre in which they are participating, to develop pride in their accomplishments, to value cooperative interaction, and to develop a personal approach evolving from the aesthetics of a broad range of artistic styles and disciplines. The Performing Arts Department offers a full range of courses in dance, theater, and music. Dance Dimensions, Marlborough Chamber Choir, Marlborough Ensemble Theater, and Instrumental Ensemble are performing groups open only by audition.
