FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY – ART: PHOTOGRAPHY
WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE


Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks an innovative, collaborative, and community-focused tenure track art instructor to teach photography effective Fall 2022.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides collaborative leadership for the art program.
  • Teaches introductory and upper level photography courses, including digital and traditional practices, and art survey courses.
  • Participates in the development of courses and curricula within the art program.
  • Employs a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of student learning outcomes for the course(s).
  • Connects with recruiters, administrators, and community partners to establish a pipeline of students for program participation.
  • Collaborates with four-year colleges/universities, faculty and administrators to ensure pathways for transfer and the academic integrity of transferable courses.
  • Participates in college and department committees and in activities, such as development of departmental policies and procedures, maintenance of course outlines, peer evaluation, program review, student learning outcomes assessment, and curricular development.
  • Demonstrates excellence in teaching and a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process.
  • Actively works to inspire, motivate, and empower students to succeed in reaching their academic, personal and career goals.
  • Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity.
  • Aids students in problem solving using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Cultivates a safe environment that respects the diversity of individuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Adheres to City Colleges of Chicago board rules, policies, procedures, and code of ethics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Fine Arts Degree in traditional darkroom photography with distinct experience in digital photography and related processes or technologies.
  • Minimum three years of community college and/or university teaching experience required. Community college teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching students in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
  • Experience in curriculum, assessment, and program development preferred.
  • Experience in working with a learning management system preferred.
  • Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population desired.
  • Commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse students and staff.
