School Improvement Math Specialists provide support for schools in Pennsylvania’s Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) School Improvement initiative, a statewide program that includes regional school improvement teams. School Improvement Math Specialists have in-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices in Math, and provide technical assistance to engage school leaders and school-based teams in a continuous improvement process. School Improvement Math Specialists will use their knowledge of evidence-based practices in their areas of expertise as they support school-based teams in implementing a school improvement plan and adjusting course as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work collaboratively with school leaders, school-based teams, district leaders, School Improvement and LEA Facilitators, the statewide Regional Team Manager, regional team coordinators, and others during a continuous improvement process.
  • Work in collaboration and coordination with the regional improvement team, as the teams implement their school improvement plan.
  • Complete high impact tasks in the area of Math, such as working with school-based teams to model, provide professional learning, and co-develop resources and protocols.
  • Support school teams as they monitor implementation of their school improvement plan. Tasks associated with this support include providing critical feedback to the team as they review and assess data related to the plan and the quality of the plan’s implementation, scaling strategies that are working, and revising or replacing strategies that are not working.
  • Utilize their knowledge of evidence-based practices in Math to support school-based teams as they adjust course. School Improvement Math Specialists will provide support, in collaboration and coordination with the regional improvement team, as the teams discuss any recalibrations needed to the plan.
  • Maintain and expand a high level of knowledge in evidence-based practices related to area of expertise.
  • Compile documents and service delivery artifacts as requested from the Statewide Regional Improvement Team Manager and Regional Team Coordinator from each phase of the continuous improvement process.
  • Attend virtual regional meetings and face-to-face trainings .
  • Attend weekly on-site check-in with the schools to support the cycle of improvement.
  • Respond to questions in a timely manner via phone, in person, and email from school-based team members, Regional Improvement Team members and the state project team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in education.
  • Minimum of two - five years experience serving as a teacher leader, curriculum coordinator and/or central office administrator specializing in the area of Mathematics.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing Mathematics within a district or school context.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing evidence-based practices in the area of Mathematics.
  • Experience using school improvement strategies and implementation strategies, particularly in Mathematics.
  • Experience and success building the capacity of school-based teams in the context of continuous improvement.
  • Experience serving as an excellent facilitator for teams.

Salary:
Project Staff Band 16 ($75,193 - $93,991) 260 days, 7.5 hours per day/ 5 days per week to include full-time benefits and PSERS.

Hired as a CCRES employee salary range of $91,353.60 - $114,192, not eligible for PSERS and includes minimum benefits

Duration of assignment is three years to include school years 2020 - 2021, 2021 - 2022, 2022 - 2023.
