Position Summary:
The Cashiers primary responsibility is to demonstrate the foundation of our service to each customer as they enter and leave the store, and support our mission statement creating an environment “where customers want to shop and employees want to work.” An enthusiastic, positive and supportive attitude is essential.
Major Responsibilities:
The major responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S. process and by mystery shop standards.
- Greet customers as they enter the store.
- Give 100% attention to the customer you are serving and always thank each customer for their business.
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of every position.
- Answer phone calls with proper greeting.
- Tactfully, professionally and pleasantly deal with customers.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Accurately and efficiently ring on registers (Point of Sale Terminals) and maintain all cash at registers.
- Must scan every item at the point of sale 100% of the time no exceptions.
- Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked.
- Call for backup cashiers when needed.
- Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card.
- Issuing receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers by following policy and procedures.
- Responsive of safety issues.
- Conscious of shoplifting activity.
- Take returns to appropriate departments before each shift is over.
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management and support the management team.
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits. Process sales or other transactions.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers. Issue money, credit, or vouchers.
Minimum Requirements:
The minimum requirements for this position include:
Education/Training:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- College preferred or vocational training.
Experience:
- Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers.
- Experience in a retail environment either in cashier, sales, or back office
Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to process information and/or merchandise through register system (Point of Sale)
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS Word and Excel a plus.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
- A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
Physical Requirements:
The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:
- While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead, be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull or push materials and equipment to complete assigned job task, and be able to frequently lift 40 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday.
- Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Move and handle monetary exchanges including cash, credit cards, and checks.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladder.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear and understand the speech of another person; communicate clearly so listeners can understand both orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers in a normal in-person conversation and also in phone conversations.
- Ability to use hands, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
