We are currently looking to add a FT Chef Manager to our team!

Job Summary: The Chef Manager is responsible for producing a balanced and nutritious meal program for Kavod Senior Life.’s Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL) residents. This requires knowledgeable and supportive leadership of the cooking team, and efficient and organized planning to ensure the execution of quality daily meals and the delivery of such. Additional areas of focus include customer service, maintaining department hygiene and health department standards, inventory and adhering to the specified budget. The Chef Manager assists the Director, as needed, and provides program support in the absence of the Director.

Requirements: Assist the Dining Service Director with the operation of the Dining Service Department as follows.

· Participate in estimating food consumption

· Plan, prepare and deliver daily meals in accordance with in-house policies and food production standards. Work with the kashrus supervisor to assure the kosher integrity of the program. Assist staff cooks in meal preparation as needed.

· Assist with purchasing, receiving deliveries and storing delivered goods, food storage inventory, projection, menu planning, and use of leftovers for ALP and main kitchens. Oversee and maintains stock levels and ordering new supplies, coordination with approved suppliers as required.

· Keep cooks for both kitchens (IL & AL) informed about weekly menus, discuss how to prepare menu items ahead of time. Manage the day-to-day food preparation provided across Kavod, including devising menus, production guidelines and producing meals in line with agreed menu plan.

· Coordinate catering activities to provide in-house and for the outside community.

· Coordinate production staff schedule and perform other administrative functions as directed. To be responsible for the management of the cooking staff, supporting individuals and teams to provide effective and pro-active management. To ensure that the performance of all staff is assessed against standards and that individuals receive regular supervision and appraisal to the standards prescribed by Kavod.

· Establish, maintain and monitor department systems to ensure that quality service is consistently provided to our patrons.

· Ensure the maintenance of a high standard of sanitation, housekeeping and safety. Compliance to HACCAP and the Department of Health and Environment and ensure health and safety regulations are strictly observed at all times in consultation with the Dining Director and Health Department guidelines.

Education/Experience: Associations Degree (A.A.) or equivalent two year degree from culinary or technical college plus 2-years hands on cooking experience and at least 1-year in a kitchen leadership role. Equivalent combination of hands on experience in a commercial kitchen may substitute for education, but not for the leadership experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be computer literate with the ability to generate routine correspondence and basic reporting. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Strong math aptitude.

Must be ServSafe certified with the state of Colorado, knowledge of kosher guidelines and experience working with an elderly population is a plus.

Strong supervisory skills are essential including: employee relations, labor laws, ethics, team building, training, scheduling, performance coaching and staff evaluations. Prior experience managing a team preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to lift, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to communicate within a loud environment. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Pay: $42,000.00 - $52,500.00 per year

Kavod is not currently providing communal dining for our residents. Meals are being delivered until it is determined that communal dining can safely resume. Only essential services are permitted onsite at present. Everyone is screened upon entry.
