The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform order filler and checker duties.Essential Functions

Receiving:

Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations

Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas

Quality:

Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage

Report quality variances.

Order Picking:

Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped

Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards

Loading:

Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers

Equipment:

Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment

Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions, as required

Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion

On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment

Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods

Inventory:

Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained

Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation

Continuously seeks opportunities to improve the customer experience

Follows safety and sanitation procedures with all guidelines from OSHA, Department of Public Health and Risk Management

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in a warehouse and forklift work Excellent interpersonal skills Able to communicate with the team Customer service Sense of urgency Ability to execute successfully in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. Professional, precise and detail oriented

Education and Work Experience

1-2 years minimum for forklift experience Must have valid current forklift certification which is notated on resume (any expired certification or past certifications with companies that are no longer valid will not qualify)

Work Environment

The work environment includes the following elements and exposures:

Forklift operation may require driving in indoor and outdoor environments When outside temperature and humidity change may be encountered Small-to-large office environment Personal protective equipment required while performing certain tasks Fast paced work environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts Noise may be encountered in both indoor and outdoor environments Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments, shop environments and manufacturing environments Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. Dust and fumes might be encountered outdoors

Constant hand usage when handling forklift controls Occasional hand usage when fingering, keying, typing and writing Constant repetitive motion when grasping, pulling, pushing and rotating body when handling forklift controls, loading materials to balance load and turning at waist to see behind while driving backwards Occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. objects

Item weighting over 40 lbs. must be carried, push or pull, by two (2) people

Good or correctable vision is required to safely perform all duties Constant sitting, bending, twisting, balancing and neck-usage flexion Occasional standing and walking
