Job Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating activities associated with the construction, maintenance, and restoration of the Company's transmission system. Assists Distribution Construction with construction, maintenance and restoration of service as needed. Acts as role model for the IIF (Incident and Injury Free) culture while ensuring maximum productivity of the crew and company equipment.
Primary Duties:
- Coordinates the construction, maintenance and restoration of the Company's Transmission System: Prepares requests for line clearances through appropriate operating authority; Coordinates the availability and delivery of materials and equipment for individual job assignments; Coordinates scheduled work with other departments, districts and various outside entities as required; Coordinates work between small work groups within the crew to ensure efficient operations and maximum utilization of manpower and equipment; Establishes temporary headquarters at job sites and secures accounts with venders for efficient daily operation; Maintains close working relationship with property owners to assure economical operations and to maintain good public relations; Conducts tailboard conferences to coordinate the job assignments.
- Provides continuous on the job training in addition to that provided in formal Company training courses; Provides fair and accurate evaluations and performance review of skill progression of crew members based on actual on the job observation and experience; Responsible for accurate and complete timesheets for the crew; Conducts monthly safety meetings and demonstrates leadership in IIF (Incident and Injury Free) culture.
- Assures compliance with environmental issues and regulations within the Company.
- Assists District Construction with construction, maintenance and restoration of services to the overhead distribution system as required.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all departments of the Company to assure timely and efficient efforts relating to the construction, maintenance or restoration of service to the customer.
- Investigates and prepares reports of property damage caused by or to Company facilities, equipment or activities.
- Performs various supervisory functions for subordinates consistent with Company Policy.
- Makes recommendations and assists in the preparation of the Transmission Construction Department payroll and equipment budget.
- Evaluates training procedures to assure that work is performed in the safest and most economical manner possible.
- Projects a positive Company image by maintaining a good appearance and working relationship with all customers.
- Responsible for keeping equipment in properly maintained condition by coordinating repair work with fleet services.
- Obtains all materials including local purchases and assures payment in timely manner.
- Plans and coordinates the activities of Linemen and Construction Operators involved in construction, maintenance and restoration of the transmission system.
- Responsible for equipment per crew valued in excess of $1 million.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six (6) years of Lineman experience to include Two (2) years as a Journey Lineman on a Distribution or Transmission crew.
- Supervisory experience or experience stepping up as an Acting Foreman within Transmission Construction.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with DOT certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership in IIF (Incident and Injury Free) culture.
- Demonstrated leadership ability including strong coaching skills, ability to influence others, and commitment to achieve measurable results.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of metering, voltage regulation, and line & substation switching.
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to perform a variety of complex tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and professionally with others, including team members, leaders, customers, and land owners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to follow Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Demonstrated ability to use basic computer software applications (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Working Conditions:
- Requires considerable travel throughout the OGE System, with extended periods away from home.
- May be required to work non-standard work schedules which includes periodic availability for emergency duty throughout OG&E Service territory.
- Maybe exposed to extreme working conditions and inclement weather.
- Exposure to high places, dusty conditions, and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
