Job Description
Overview:POSITION DESCRIPTION:This case management position will have to opportunity to work in the Rapid Rehousing department with individuals and families who are experiencing housing instability. We provide limited financial assistance and housing stability case management. The programs assist clients in locating housing, addressing barriers to renting, and provides advocacy on behalf of clients with landlords. Program Staff work with households to create and implement a housing stability plan with the goal of the household entering housing and taking over responsibility for the rent as quickly as possible.Responsibilities:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management
  • Meet with prospective clients to collect enrollment documentation.
  • Assess clients for housing needs and develop housing stability plans to address barriers/goals.
  • Provide life skills training regarding housing location, budgeting, tenant responsibilities, and other
  • housing related skills.
  • Provide housing location services as needed and advocate on behalf of client with landlords, debtors,
  • and other parties.
  • Perform outreach to landlords and property managers on behalf of the Rapid Rehousing Program.
  • Maintain physical case files and database entry in accordance with agency standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to identify resources and services that can be used to better serve
  • Provide individualized case management for clients as directed by their stability goals.
  • Make referrals to employment, mental health and other partner providers as necessary.
  • Employ crisis management skills where necessary to assist clients in difficult situations.
  • Manage a case load of 17-20 households in varying stages of the program curriculum.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and respect client privacy.
  • Ensure clients guide housing search preferences and goal setting.
  • Maintain accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheets on schedule.
  • Attend required trainings as scheduled.
  • Participate in staff and supervisory meetings as required.
  • Participate in agency advocacy on behalf of the people we serve.
  • Contribute to and support a positive, team-oriented, culturally diverse work environment.
  • Travel throughout King County to meet with clients.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications applicant must possess to be considered for the position.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field
  • Understanding of issues homeless families often face, including alcohol and drug abuse, mental
  • illness, domestic violence, and long-term homelessness.
  • Experience working with Child Protective Services and the Department of Children Youth and
  • Families (DCYF)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, with ability to maintain complex client records.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Criminal history background checks are required prior to employment.
  • Registered DOH Washington State credential: Agency Affiliated Counselor (HIV/AIDS
  • training required), or ability to obtain a credential within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work or a related field.
  • Fluency in second language that is spoken by a substantial number of King County clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HMIS.
  • SUBSTITUTE QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications, which may be substituted for minimum qualifications.)
  • A combination of education/training, and documented knowledge/skills and experience may in
  • some cases substitute for the BA requirement.
