As a Commercial Fire Inspector, you will be responsible for completing routine inspections of many types of life safety systems. In addition, this role would be responsible for maintaining detailed, accurate, and complete documentation of tests performed.
- Inspect buildings and structures to identify potential fire hazards.
- Ensure buildings are equipped with fire control equipment, including fire extinguishers.
- Locate fire code violations.
- Recommend actions to bring properties into compliance.
- Conduct inspections onsite.
- Check for accumulations of combustible material, electrical wiring problems, and inadequate or non-functional fire exits.
- Test fire protection systems.
- Ensure buildings are in accordance with appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.
- Inspect properties that store, handle, and use hazardous materials to ensure compliance with laws, codes, and regulations.
- Keep abreast of current fire safety codes and firefighting procedures.
- Evaluate evacuation procedures.
- Present and explain fire code requirements and fire prevention information to engineers and construction workers.
- Replace defective fire detection equipment.
SHIFT:
- 8-9 hour day shift.
- Some shifts may require overtime.
- Travel may be required based on business needs.
- 2 years’ experience maintaining or installing fire alarm systems.
- NE State Fire License required.
- Willingness to obtain additional licenses as business dictates.
- Holds a current NICET I or NICET II certification.
- The ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to utilize a variety of hand tools and specialty equipment with proficiency.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Able to climb ladders and manipulate hand tools safely
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuitry and associating low voltage.
- Ability to use a laptop to program software.
- Able to work various heights using a scissor lift and/or boom lift.
- Able to perform on-call duties as assigned.
- Ability to perform inspections in intrusion/CCTV and access systems.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Self-starter that can work with little to no supervision.
- Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
- Willingness to obtain a fire license for IA.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Communicates effectively in both oral and written communications. Communicates with supervisor, peers, subordinates and other Company staff; working as part of a team contributing to company goals.
REASONING ABILITY: Job requires being careful about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw conclusions drawing upon experience, research and input from peers. This position performs multiple job tasks on a daily basis.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing and standing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this position; the employee may be exposed to various climates and conditions. Wearing of safety clothing and equipment may at times be required.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED (Required)
- Valid state of NE Fire Inspection License (Required)
- Current NICET I or II (Preferred)
